Waiting in Central Casting
Pastor Tim Maness
Sunday, August 24, 2008
Luke 12:13-34, Colossians 3:1-6

There are 4 Characters in this play.
Please pick the character that best typifies yourself.

I. The first character is named “someone.”
- “someone in the crowd said to Jesus.”

II. The second character is named “rich man.”
Luke 12:18
- After he plans he decides to celebrate and throw a party
- Many choose muchness over a community.

III. The third role is God
- Would you like to play God?
- Many try but it is not wise.
- Rich man is now named fool (12:20)
- It is his true character

IV. The fourth role is Disciple
- This is the best role to play
- Not called fool, but called little flock.

V. Jesus is the director of Central Casting
- Consider your roles carefully, lets summarize

  1. The someone with a brother, with gasping, scolding anxiety.
  2. The rich man, all alone at his party, with a death sentence for greed.
  3. God, who calls things by their right names and breaks the deception (The party crasher.)
  4. The disciples, the ones authorized to live differently.

Which role do you want to play?

2 Chronicles 7:14

  • Hear His voice
  • Open the door

Malachi 3:10-11

10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty.

We are in need of a revival
2 Chronicles 7:12-14

12 the LORD appeared to him at night and said:

“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices.
13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Four Requirements Before a Revival can happen

  1. God requires the humbling of self
  2. God requires his people to pray
  3. God requires us to seek his face
  4. God requires us to turn from our wicked ways

The results of revival

  • God will hear
  • God will heal

The Four Dimensions of the Love of God
Pastor Tim Maness
Sunday, August 10, 2008
Ephesians 1:1-8
Ephesians 3: 14-18

What does love mean?

Do you know Gods love or do you only know that God loves you?

Paul gives us three keys that help us understand the love of God.

  1. Recognize your relationship
  2. Rely on your resources
  3. Rest in your relationship

“For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

This verse gives us the four dimensions of Gods love.

I. The width of Gods love
“For God so loved the world

II. The length of Gods love
“That He gave His only begotten Son.”

III. The depth of Gods love
“That whosoever believeth in Him would not perish.”

IV. The height of Gods love
“But have everlasting life.”
